Description |
Social enterprises refer to not-for-profit entrepreneurial ventures run by social entrepreneurs. Social entrepreneurs are individuals who recognize the existence of social problems and aim to alleviate these problems through the use of creative business and entrepreneurship principles. Some prominent social enterprises in Singapore include Bizlink Centre, Teen Challenge Enterprises, Gift and Take, Dignity Links (which operates Barista Express), Food #03, Food for Thought, School of Thought, O School, and ECO Singapore. In line with Global Entrepreneurship Week 2008 (GEW’08), NUS Business School Alumni Association will host a forum featuring several prominent social entrepreneurs and various companies that are active in corporate social responsibility projects. At the forum, various speakers will share with us their rich experiences in running or partnering social enterprises, and how such social enterprises or collaborations enrich the lives of the less privileged. Who says enterprises are all about profit and loss? |
